Would this be the Dalton that was near a Bomber Command called Croft in 1944?? Ted & Lorraine
Hello Wonder if you can help could you tell me if there was a pub called the Brown Dog Inn in Dalton in Furness. It would be around the 1900. Thank you in anticipation
Judith Glennie, judith.glennie@eden.gov.ukCould you put me in contact with anyone who is a part of some sort of historical society in Dalton-in-Furness? My father was stationed at a place called Camp Greystone near Dalton-in-Furness from early November, 1944 to the end of January, 1945 before his unit was sent to France. The unit was the 515th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army. If I could reach someone who lived through those times there, it would be great.
Also, I am looking for a photo that might depict a scene at Dalton-in-Furness during the Christmas season of 1944 - perhaps of the town square - if there is such a photo or if anyone was decorating the town during those days. I would like to get a photo depicting the time period in order to reproduce to send if for some still living 515th veteransTom Sorkness
