JONTY GOODWIN (jontybegood@btinternet.com)
Fanny Step Hello
I am trying to trace any information on my grandmother, Fanny Step. I understand she lived in Dalton in Furness (Chapel Street and Hartington Street) during the 1900s - 1930?
I also wonder whether anyone has any information on her husband, Percival Step and where he moved on to when they separated.
Any information would be greatly received - I am new to this family history research - just getting started but already hooked and wished I had asked all these important questions whilst my close family were still alive - too late now.
Thank you.

terry brown (terry@pennell.plus.com)Audrey Watson (nee Graham)
Connection with the Cameroon Brigade 1938/1939
my mother Audrey Watson nee Graham was born on 1/9/1939 in dalton in
furness, but was born to an unmarried mother Bessie Tyldsley, she was informed
by her mother that her father was a soilder in the cameroons, and i was
wondering if the Cameroon brigade was stationed either in or around Dalton in
Furness around 1938/1939 time, my grandmother who unfortunately has passed away would not even tell my mum his name, so she has been left with quite a void in
her life, and also the stigma of being an illegitimate child bore heavily on
her, as you can appreciate at the time, it was no fun to be born out of wedlock,
hoping you can help me out with this query, many thanks....
michelle heywood nee watson (mitz1965@yahoo.com)James Muckle I am tryng to trace a James Muckle, Born about 1837-1839. On the 1881
census it says born at Walton in Furness but we thought this may be a transcription error for Dalton in Furness.
on other census returns however it says born in Lancaster.
I wondered if there were any other Muckles in the area at the time ?
Thankyou

My great-grandfather, Henry Kendall, was born in Dalton in 1840. He was the fiirst child born of Robert and Sarah Kendall, born in approx. 1805 and 1816 in Aldingham and Kirkby, respectively. Robert was a mining agent for several mines in the area and his son, Henry, was the manager of the Roanhead Mine from 1870 - 1875. Henry married Mary (maiden name unknown). They had 6 children, (all baptized at St. Mary's) before Mary committed suicide in approx. 1877. Henry and his children moved to America in 1879. Henry left behind his parents and three sisters, Elizabeth, Ann and Jane. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to know if there are any relatives living in the area. contact, (Rblakec556@rogers.com)Newshams My grandfather, Ernest Newsham, was born in Dalton-in-Furness about 1888. He came to America at age 16 with his younger brother, Tom and eventually settled in Seattle, Washington. He started as a coal miner, then was a miners union official, and finally bought a coal company (The Continental Fuel Company) in 1924 and ran the business until he sold it in 1943. I understand that there are still Newshams in the Dalton area. I would like to know more about the family. When I tried to talk to him about his family he was not too clear about the subject. He apparently had at least one sister and one other brother, but probably more.
I would very much appreciate any information about the Newshams.

(billshaw@scattercreek.com)Millican family I am trying to trace any descendants of Watson and Lavinia Millican who are my great grandparents on my fathers side. They lived at 39 Sharp Street in 1880s and had 7 children, Jacob, Josiah, Thomas, Mary, Agnes my grandmother, Lavinia and Martha. At some time Agnes was married to William Bettany but he died soon after and she remarried in 1902. Also I know that Mary married a William Bassnett in 1882. My great grandmother died about 1907 but I cannot trace Watsons death. Its the first time I have visited this site and it will be a great help to people.
Thanks very much.
